The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, stated that the incomes of employees in hospitals and ambulance services will not be reduced by 10% to avoid demotivating the staff and a new exodus from the system. He emphasized that a linear cut would not bring real savings but would severely affect the functioning of the health system.
Rogobete acknowledged that health needs a profound reform, mentioning structural problems that have been ignored over time, such as imbalances and waste. The proposed reform includes performance criteria, the reorganization of the on-call system, the reclassification of hospitals, and transparency in spending.
The minister assured the medical staff that the reforms are meant to improve the system, not to negatively affect them, and promised that every decision will be made in the interest of patients.
