Famos, one of the oldest mobile manufacturers in Romania, is preparing to sign the documents for voluntary dissolution and liquidation, after deciding to sell all real estate assets, including the industrial platform, an office building, and the Orion mall in Odorheiu Secuiesc. The increase in raw material and energy costs, as well as the strong competition from cheaper imported products, are the main reasons why the company's representatives made this decision.

The company's shareholders approved the cessation of production activities starting in 2024, and following notifications made to AJOFM Harghita, Famos has begun layoffs. In October, the company had only 28 employees left, and the closure of the factory is expected by the end of the year. This decision marks the end of an era for Famos, which had among its shareholders Senator Attila Verestoy.
