Household spending on services fell by 0.7% in the first five months of 2025, with notable declines in tourism and gambling.

In the first five months of 2025, household spending on services was down 0.7% year-on-year, with travel agencies and gambling suffering the biggest losses. In contrast, hairdressing services rose significantly by 20.6%. In May, turnover in services rose by 3.6%, mainly due to beauty and HoReCa services. However, services inflation outpaced headline inflation, leading Romanians to drop some services.
