After the official meeting between President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Beijing, China confirmed the purchase of 200 Boeing airplanes. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced that the U.S. will provide guarantees for the supply of parts and components for aircraft engines.
Additionally, the two parties will collaborate to extend the previously agreed tariff truce and will seek tariff reductions for goods worth 30 billion dollars. The announcement was made in the context of Xi's discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump stated that his visit led to significant trade agreements, including a promise of 750 Boeing airplanes, the largest order of its kind. Boeing's CEO, Kelly Ortberg, was part of the American delegation, which also included leaders from other major companies.
The recent agreement was preceded by negotiations in Kuala Lumpur, which led to the extension of the tariff truce and the reduction of American tariffs on Chinese goods.
