Bombardier's shares fell by 9% on Friday after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to "decertify" the Canadian company's large business jets and impose a 50% import tariff on new aircraft until Ottawa certifies the rival Gulfstream model. A White House official clarified that the threat does not apply to aircraft already in operation in the U.S., but the message has generated confusion and concern among airlines and customers.

Trump emphasized that if the situation is not resolved quickly, he will impose tariffs on any aircraft sold in the U.S. Trade tensions between the U.S. and Canada have recently increased, and the Canadian aerospace industry has so far been protected from the harshest trade measures. Trump's threats could severely impact U.S. operators using Bombardier aircraft, considering that the U.S. represents the largest market for business aviation.
