Boeing will conduct additional inspections for 737 MAX airplanes after a door panel detached in midair from an Alaska Airlines MAX 9.

The company will step up quality inspections, sending a team to supplier Spirit AeroSystems, which makes the door involved in the incident. The measures come after the FAA extended the grounding of 171 MAX 9 airplanes for new safety checks.
