The 'ACUM' project (Emergency Consular Assistance and Mobility) was launched on July 24, 2026, with the aim of supporting vulnerable Romanians or those in serious situations in Italy. The initiative was presented by the general consul Marian Popescu, during an event at the General Consulate of Romania in Rome, where representatives of the Romanian community and medical personnel participated.
The project includes three levels of intervention: 'U - Urgent' (intervention within 24 hours), 'R - Rapid' (72 hours) and 'P - Scheduled' (5-10 working days). These categories specifically target minors, internally displaced Romanians, persons deprived of liberty, and families affected by deaths.
The project also includes the mobilization of consular teams in crisis situations and the organization of mobile consulates to provide direct support to Romanians. Explanatory guides have been distributed to help Romanians request consular intervention and medical assistance in Italy.
