A young Romanian woman, settled in Italy, was sentenced to five years in prison after a trial lasting nearly 13 years for drugging her 69-year-old jeweler boyfriend and robbing him. The incident occurred in 2013 when the young woman was 20 years old.
The woman put the victim to sleep with a sedative added to his glass of wine, and then, together with her father, opened the safe and stole goods worth 30,000 euros. Investigators determined that the young woman acted with premeditation, deceiving the jeweler until the sedative began to take effect. The theft was discovered only a few days later, and the trial was marked by delays caused by the pandemic and an accident involving the prosecutor.
