A Romanian was arrested in a special operation carried out by the police in Madrid, being part of the most feared gang of luxury watch thieves, known as the 'Banda de los Rolex'. This gang, mainly composed of Colombians, operated in the luxury neighborhoods of the Spanish capital, targeting tourists and wealthy individuals. The gang members would follow their victims and, through violence, would snatch the watches from their wrists, some valued at up to 120,000 euros. The Romanian was accused of a recent robbery, in which he stole a watch worth 37,000 euros. The police waited for his return from Romania to arrest him, and he will spend several years in prison.
