The Council of Ministers has adopted a decree aimed at reducing energy bills, with a budget between 2.5 and 3 billion euros. The decree includes a one-time contribution of up to 115 euros for vulnerable households, with an ISEE of up to 9,800 euros, and a threshold of 20,000 euros for families with at least four children.

This measure will be automatically granted to those already eligible for the social bonus. It is also expected that suppliers will be able to offer voluntary discounts to residential customers with an ISEE of up to 25,000 euros in the period 2026/2027.

The decree also addresses natural gas prices, aiming to reduce the gap between Italian and European prices, which could help lower electricity costs. The proposed measures include utilizing stocks purchased during the 2022 crisis to reduce certain tariff components, especially for large energy-consuming enterprises.

The government intends to transfer some costs from producers to final bills, which could lead to a reduction in the wholesale price of electricity and increased competitiveness of the energy system.
