The authorities in Anderlecht, Belgium, have identified approximately 160 people who are illegally occupying an empty building on Avenue Sylvain Dupuis, near the Westland Shopping Center. Mayor Fabrice Cumps stated that the building's owner has obtained a building permit for a 26-story tower, but does not have the necessary funds to start the work.

The occupants, mostly Romanian citizens, could be evicted soon, as the mayor is preparing a decree in this regard. Cumps mentioned that the eviction is motivated by risks to public order, and the occupants have been summoned to present their testimonies.

The mayor also emphasized that the situation reflects the federal government's failure to provide adequate support to individuals in the asylum application process. Discussions regarding the eviction will continue, considering the complaints of the residents.
