A criminal network that exploited Romanian workers in Seville, Spain, has been dismantled. 17 people have been arrested, and 8 victims have been freed.

The police in Seville have arrested 17 people accused of exploiting Romanian workers in agriculture, following an operation carried out in collaboration with Romanian authorities.

The victims, mainly recruited from Alexandria, were lured by false advertisements on social media, promising them well-paid jobs. Once they arrived in Spain, they were housed in inhumane conditions and constantly monitored by the criminal network.

The workers accumulated debts for the cost of transportation, being forced to work in difficult conditions, without social security. The operation included four searches, confiscating money, phones, and relevant documents.

Previous investigations have led to the arrest of over a hundred people and the dismantling of several Romanian criminal organizations involved in human trafficking.
