Two young people, a 23-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, were fined one thousand lei each for assaulting a Sri Lankan delivery worker in Popești-Leordeni, near Bucharest. The incident occurred following a traffic altercation, and the victim was filmed during the assault, in which the young woman threatened, hit, and spat on him. Although the delivery worker reported the incident to the police the next day, he withdrew his complaint, and the assailants only received a fine. In the context of increasing assaults against foreign workers, the National Trade Union Bloc announced that it offers free legal assistance for them. The Secretary General of BNS, Horațiu Raicu, emphasized the need for tolerance and understanding towards migrant workers.
