The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued a weather warning valid from January 29 to February 1, 2026, which affects most of Romania and signals particularly unfavorable weather phenomena, including moderate rain, ice, and sleet, intensifications of the wind, and a significant cooling of the weather. In the southeastern regions, precipitation accumulations of 10-20 l/mp are expected, while in the rest of the country, snow or mixed precipitation will prevail, with possible ice formation in some areas.
Meteorologists anticipate wind intensifications with gusts of 50-65 km/h in certain counties, and from the night of Saturday to Sunday, the frost will intensify in Moldova, Dobrogea, and eastern Transylvania, with minimum temperatures ranging from -14 to -10 °C and persistent negative temperatures in most of the region. ANM estimates suggest that the very cold weather, characterized by frost especially during the night and morning, will persist until the beginning of next week, particularly in the extra-Carpathian regions.
