The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued new warnings for severe weather in Romania, with yellow codes for snow, blizzards, rain, and ice, affecting more than half of the country. The warnings are valid from January 6, 10:00 AM to January 9, 10:00 AM, and include mixed precipitation, ice, and significant snowfall, with accumulations of 15-30 cm in low areas and 30-50 cm in the mountains.
Wind intensifications are expected, with gusts of 50-80 km/h, especially in the southern and eastern regions. Additionally, on the night from Thursday to Friday, the weather will become freezing, with minimum temperatures between -15 and -10 degrees in the intracarpathian regions. Raed Arafat mentioned that 15,000 people in Alba and Hunedoara counties have been left without electricity due to severe weather conditions. ANM emphasized the importance of warnings to prepare the population for extreme weather.
