The National Meteorological Administration has announced an orange weather alert, valid from January 2 to January 3, 2026, concerning moderate precipitation and blizzards. During this period, precipitation is expected in most regions, with water accumulations of 15–30 l/m². In the mountains, snowfall will bring a layer of snow of 20–50 cm, while in the hilly areas of Transylvania and Maramureș, sleet and snow will be reported. The wind will have significant intensifications, with gusts of over 70–80 km/h in the mountains, blowing the snow and reducing visibility.
Additionally, yellow codes are in effect for various areas, including for precipitation and strong winds. Meteorologists warn that until January 9, there will be periods of precipitation in all regions.
