Malwarebytes has issued a warning regarding a phishing campaign that uses fake Windows updates to install malware on users' devices. These updates, which appear legitimate due to their design that closely mimics the Microsoft look, are distributed through emails, SMS messages, or notifications. The goal of the attack is to steal passwords and banking data, with most victims located in France.

Experts recommend that users do not click on links in messages requesting the installation of urgent updates, but instead check for updates directly from the operating system settings. It is essential to avoid downloading updates from external sources, even if they appear official. Enabling automatic updates is an additional protective measure.

Users are advised to be cautious of messages that create a sense of urgency and to always check URLs before downloading files. Following these rules can significantly reduce the risk of infection.
