The Vodafone report, titled 'The Backbone of Europe's Digital Future: Secure Connectivity as a Central Pillar of Defense', emphasizes that the security of Europe is closely linked to its connectivity. Connectivity is essential for critical services, such as hospitals and energy networks, and becomes indispensable for armed forces. The report warns that political leaders treat connectivity as an economic good, neglecting its crucial role in defense. If Europe continues to consider it a basic service, the risks to citizens and institutions will increase.

Vodafone proposes five recommendations to improve the security of connectivity, including recognizing it as a strategic asset, establishing collaboration mechanisms between governments and operators, eliminating investment gaps, partnerships with trusted allies, and investing in digital inclusion. This approach could strengthen the security and prosperity of European citizens.
