He emphasized that Simion has cultivated tension and hatred, and now behaves like a victim. Popescu criticized the request for protection, stating that Romania does not need politicians who turn aggression into a spectacle. Simion requested SPP protection citing the vandalization of the AUR headquarters and the death threats he received. The tense relationship between the two has been marked by several incidents, culminating in the altercation in Parliament.
