Popescu reminded Simion of past aggressions, including the incident in Parliament in February 2022, when Simion physically assaulted him, and the scandal at the Vienna airport. He emphasized that Simion has cultivated tension and hatred, and now behaves like a victim. Popescu criticized the request for protection, stating that Romania does not need politicians who turn aggression into a spectacle. Simion requested SPP protection citing the vandalization of the AUR headquarters and the death threats he received.
