Unit 1 of the nuclear power plant in Cernavodă will be shut down in a controlled manner this evening.

SN Nuclearelectrica SA has announced that Unit 1 of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) will be shut down in a controlled manner on the evening of March 6, 2026. This shutdown is necessary to carry out remediation work in the conventional part of the plant, without affecting the nuclear part. The company emphasizes that the controlled shutdown and remediation work will be carried out according to applicable procedures, ensuring that there is no impact on nuclear safety, personnel, or the surrounding environment. SN Nuclearelectrica will issue a statement later, at the time of resynchronization of Unit 1 to the National Energy System.
