Unit 1 of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant was reconnected to the National Energy System on the morning of July 5, 2026, according to the announcement made by Nuclearelectrica, the company that manages the plant.
The planned shutdown aimed to carry out essential activities, including preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, mandatory testing, and the implementation of design modifications. Nuclearelectrica emphasized that all work was carried out under safety conditions for personnel, the public, and the environment, adhering to approved procedures. The reconnection of the unit to the grid is an important step in ensuring the continuity of electricity supply.
