<p>The law was proposed by the Association 'Luca Coscioni' and was approved by the Regional Council after collecting 10,000 signatures. It sets out a 20-day procedure for assessing requests for assisted suicide, with the possibility of an extension of a further 10 days. The law has been contested by some who believe it should be regulated at national level.
