The Ministry of Transport plans to increase rail passenger fares as a result of the VAT rate increase from 19% to 21%.

In the context of the VAT rate increase, the Ministry of Transport is proposing fare adjustments for rail passenger transport in order to maintain the volume of activity and ensure citizens' mobility. Fares for various routes and types of trains will vary, with examples such as 6 lei for the North Bucharest - Henri Coandă Airport journey and prices ranging from 12.5 lei to 309 lei for Intercity trains, depending on distance and class. There will also be changes to sleeping car passes and supplements.
