Former President Traian Băsescu analyzed recent cases of corruption involving high-ranking officials, including the Minister of Defense, emphasizing that these could only represent the tip of the iceberg. Băsescu states that the circulation of money around the Government has become a common practice, and corruption is present at all levels, from low-ranking officials to high-ranking officials. He expresses concern that financial interests will severely affect Romania's military capabilities. Additionally, Băsescu suggests that the issue of corruption should be addressed at the level of the CSAT and that coordinated action is necessary, including support from the SRI, to combat this endemic problem.
