The passenger ship Viking Ullur, flying the Swiss flag, ran aground on the Danube near the locality of Gârla Mare, Mehedinți County, while heading towards Vidin, Bulgaria. The incident occurred in the context of low water levels on the Danube, the lowest in the last 30 years, which led to the ship being stuck in an area with shallow depth. On board are 186 passengers and 52 crew members, all safe, with no evacuation necessary. Naval authorities are monitoring the situation and coordinating operations to refloat the ship.
