The mayor of the town of Tăuții Măgherăuș, Dumitru Marinescu, announced that the settling pond with non-ferrous ores near the village of Bozânta Mare will undergo an extensive ecological restoration process, ensured by the Ministry of Economy.

This area has become a major environmental problem, affecting the health of the population and agricultural crops, especially during periods of changing weather. The fine dust particles generated by the pond are dangerous for people and plants, having long-term effects on the soil. The pond was created in the 1960s and suffered an ecological accident in 2000, when its dam failed, contaminating watercourses. Currently, the pond is managed by the National Company of Precious and Non-Ferrous Metals - Remin, which is in insolvency.
