The Ministry of Environment, through Minister Diana Buzoianu, announced a new guide aimed at reducing flood risks, emphasizing the importance of preventive interventions. The guide proposes an integrated approach, combining traditional hydraulic works with nature-based solutions, such as restoring wetlands, reconnecting rivers to floodplains, and arranging natural water retention areas.

These measures aim to mitigate the effects of extreme precipitation. The development of the guide is part of the recently updated National Flood Risk Management Strategy, which provides for the implementation of green measures to increase the resilience of communities. The document aligns Romania with European policies in the field of water and adaptation to climate change, facilitating access to funding for sustainable projects.

Interested individuals can consult the guide on the MMAP website and can submit comments within ten days.
