The Ministry of National Defense has signed a contract worth 30.7 million euros for the acquisition of 34 drone systems.

The interim Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, announced the signing of a contract with Quantum Systems for the acquisition of 34 drone systems, as part of the SAFE program, with a total value of 30,700,000 euros excluding VAT. The delivery of these systems, called 'Mini UAS Class I System', is scheduled for 2027 and will contribute to the surveillance missions of the Romanian Army.

The contract also includes 15 Scorpion kits, which allow the transformation of drones from 'fixed-wing' configuration to 'multicopter'. Radu Miruță emphasized that these acquisitions are complementary to existing projects and that, despite the legal obstacles encountered, the Ministry has found solutions to advance in the process of equipping the army.
