The return rate of packaging in Romania exceeds 85% in February

In February 2026, Romania collected over 311 million packages with the symbol of the Deposit-Return System (SGR), achieving a return rate of over 85%, according to data published by RetuRo. During this period, 364 million packages were introduced to the market, and in the first two months of the year, Romanians returned approximately 667 million beverage packages.

RetuRO delivered about 59,000 tons of materials to recyclers. Since the launch of the SGR in Romania, over 9.2 billion packages have been collected, and 677,000 tons of materials have been recycled. RetuRO is a non-profit company, formed by a consortium of associations and the Romanian state, aimed at promoting recycling and sustainability.
