The Oradea City Hall has launched a public debate regarding two taxation options for the year 2026, inviting citizens to express their opinions until December 16. The first proposed option is the indexing of taxes with an inflation rate of 5.6%, while the second refers to the increases in the government fiscal package, which is awaiting an opinion from the Constitutional Court on December 10.

The budgetary impact of the indexing is estimated at 9.7 million lei, while the fiscal package could bring an additional 49 million lei to the local budget. The residents of Oradea are encouraged to submit suggestions, and a meeting with the business environment is scheduled for December 15. Mayor Florin Birta emphasized the importance of these changes for accessing European funds, while economic director Eduard Florea expressed concerns regarding the rapid implementation of the tax changes. The Local Council of Oradea will approve the chosen option on December 18-19.
