The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued, on Thursday, orange code warnings for snow and blizzards, valid until Friday morning, in the regions of Oltenia, Transylvania, and Banat. A yellow code alert was issued in Bucharest.

In the counties of Mehedinți, Dolj, Olt, and Teleorman, between 10:00 and 23:00, strong wind intensifications are expected, with gusts of 70 - 90 km/h. Additionally, in the Southern Carpathians and the southern part of the Eastern Carpathians, at altitudes over 1,700 meters, an orange code for strong blizzards will be issued, with winds reaching speeds of 85 - 120 km/h, reducing visibility to below 50 meters. These severe weather conditions will continue into the night of January 8, with similar warnings for the period 23:00 - 10:00.

The capital is under a yellow code targeting wind intensifications and precipitation in the form of sleet and snow. The alert started at 10:00 and will last until this evening, January 8, at 23:00. Snowfall began in Bucharest around 9:00.
