After a long wait, line 5 of the tram in Bucharest, named "The Corporate Tram", could be reopened next week, despite delays caused by financial issues. The modernization works of the tracks and stations have been completed, but the canopies for the stations have not yet been installed. The local administration announced that trams will run again on this important route for the northern area of the Capital, which connects Băneasa to the city center. Although the works were scheduled to be fully completed in the spring of this year, they have been delayed due to debts accumulated by the Bucharest City Hall (PMB) to the contractors. Line 5 has been closed since 2017 for modernization. The project included the restoration of the track, replacement of the contact network, and modernization of the platforms.
