The head of the National Administration of Penitentiaries (ANP), Geo Bogdan Burcu, stated that the hacker inmate from the Târgu Jiu Penitentiary did not breach the database, but had access to a web platform, where he made changes, such as canceling certain orders and adding amounts to the inmates' accounts. These actions affected a number of fewer than 10 inmates, and the total unrecovered amount is approximately 10,000 lei.

Burcu emphasized that there were no changes regarding the penalties or the rights to intimate visits, and the unauthorized access was due to the negligence of the employees. Investigations are ongoing, and the ANP acted promptly to correct the vulnerabilities. Additionally, Burcu responded to the unions' accusations, stating that the ANP's specialized structure has access to the national application and managed the situation accordingly.
