The Environmental Guard has initiated a new inspection at the Bucharest City Hall to verify the measures taken to reduce air pollution, in the context of the frequent exceedance of PM2.5 and PM10 values. Among the identified causes are the anti-slip material used in winter and activities on construction sites.
The inspections began on March 16, 2026, and resulted in the application of 42 contraventional sanctions, totaling 800,000 lei, across 48 construction sites. The Environmental Guard found violations of air quality legislation, such as the lack of surface wetting and improper storage of materials. These actions will continue to protect air quality and the surrounding environment in the Capital.
