Illegal business with truffles and forest fruits worth over 13 million lei, discovered by authorities

Common controls carried out by the National Environmental Guard, the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF), and the Romanian Police have uncovered a network of illegal business involving truffles and forest fruits, with an estimated value of over 13 million lei.

The irregularities found included the lack of necessary authorizations for harvesting and commercialization. A total of 30 contraventional sanctions were applied, with fines totaling 1,267,500 lei. Additionally, criminal complaints were filed for forgery in documents. The controls targeted 258 economic operators, leading to 146 sanctions and 38 new criminal cases, mostly for tax evasion. The Environmental Guard emphasized the need for additional legislative measures to combat criminal activity in this area.
