IntellDrones SRL, a company based in Râșnov established in 2024, has come to public attention for its intention to manufacture military technology, despite a lack of personnel and a visible industrial base. The owner, Ioana-Hermina Păiuș, without experience in the aviation or military field, previously owned a restaurant and a small screw factory. The company's headquarters is located in the same place as her previous restaurant. Păiuș, with studies at the National Academy of Intelligence, is associated with former SRI officers, including Sorin Dobîrcianu, convicted for influence peddling, and has family ties with state officials.
Although the company had zero revenue in its first year and debts, it managed to participate in international security forums. Access to European funds from the SAFE program, intended for the defense industry, is done without public tenders, and the selection of companies is made directly by the authorities. According to legislation, arms production requires special authorizations and a real technical infrastructure, criteria that IntellDrones SRL does not meet. Păiuș stated that production could begin in a few months, but she refused to provide further details about the company's activities.
