The DIICOT prosecutors and the police from the Organized Crime Fighting Brigade in Timișoara conducted searches on Thursday at the homes of two members of the Cârpaci clan, Gradu and Ileana, following a request from the German authorities. They are accused of forming an organized criminal group and human trafficking, with European arrest warrants issued in their names. According to judicial sources, the two allegedly exploited a Romanian citizen in Germany, forcing him to declare that he is related to Gradu Cârpaci and to donate a kidney due to a kidney condition. The donation procedure was suspended by the German authorities, who have initiated a criminal investigation regarding its legality.
