Police in Bucharest and those in the Republic of Moldova have discovered a network of call centers that deceive Romanian citizens with false investment promises. The perpetrators, Moldovans, convinced the victims to invest on fictitious platforms and to install remote control applications, allowing them access to their bank accounts.
Following the searches on February 17, 15 victims were identified, with total losses exceeding one million lei. Authorities confiscated luxury goods and large sums of money, and investigations continue to establish the financial links between the network and companies in Romania. The police recommend that citizens do not provide banking information and verify the authenticity of investment platforms.
