Judges from various Courts of Appeal and courts in Romania, as well as prosecutors from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Tribunal, have decided to suspend their activity indefinitely, in protest against the proposed changes to the special pensions of magistrates. The Superior Council of Magistracy has accused the Government of affecting the independence of justice and has requested the withdrawal of the draft law. The strikers say that the protest will continue until the legislative proposal is withdrawn.
