Draft legislation submitted to Parliament requires sterilization of dogs without pedigree, except for animals with health problems. Abandonment of dogs is clearly defined and euthanasia will be transparently regulated. The initiators point out that Romania has more than 4 million owned dogs, of which only a small proportion are sterilized, which contributes to the problem of stray dogs. The project aims to improve the management of these animals through preventive measures and accountability.
