Air traffic in Eastern Europe increased significantly in September, with Romania advancing by 11.1% and Moldova by 45.5%

According to ACI Europe data, air traffic in Eastern Europe recorded notable increases in September, with Romania having an advance of 11.1% compared to last year, while Moldova had a remarkable growth of 45.5%, one of the highest in Europe. Other countries in the region, such as Slovakia, Poland, and Slovenia, reported significant increases, while some states in western and northern Europe, such as Estonia, Latvia, and France, recorded declines. Overall in Europe, the growth was 3.6%, with international traffic expanding faster (+4.3%) than domestic traffic (+1%). The largest increases were observed in Slovakia (+14.7%), Poland (+13.2%), and Slovenia (+13.1%). Istanbul Airport had the highest traffic growth (+28.1%), being also the busiest, while cargo traffic increased by 4.3%, exceeding pre-pandemic levels by 17.6%.
