During the tests for the new Alstom metro trains intended for Bucharest, a serious incident occurred when the button for the 'emergency brake' broke, leaving the operator with it in hand. As a result, Alstom decided to temporarily halt the movement of the trains in self-propulsion mode, and the dynamic tests were canceled, allowing only tests with a diesel locomotive in tow.

The first delivered train has not completed the 10,000 km break-in required for approval, and repeated incidents are hindering the introduction of the trains into passenger service. The contract for the 13 Metropolis trains, signed in 2020, is worth over 100 million euros, and the estimated entry into service date of July 1, 2026, is now uncertain due to the technical problems encountered.
