On Sunday, around 5:00 PM, a serious incident occurred at the Chiajna Movement Halt, where a child of approximately 15 years was electrocuted after climbing onto a freight train car belonging to CFR Marfă. The contact line voltage is approximately 27,000 volts, and getting close to it can cause fatal accidents.
CFR SA explained that direct contact with the contact wire is not necessary to suffer an accident, as electric current can generate an electric arc and can be transmitted at a distance of up to 1.5 meters. After the incident, specialized teams and emergency services responded quickly, and the child was taken by ambulance, being cooperative. CFR SA reiterates the importance of adhering to safety rules when near electrified installations.
