The Mayor of Sector 4, Daniel Băluță, announced the suspension of the urban regeneration tax of 540 lei per year for Bucharest residents who own cars but do not have parking spaces, starting from April 1. This decision comes in the context of a difficult economic situation, with low purchasing power and high inflation. Băluță mentioned that the tax, instituted on January 1, 2025, has generated criticism and has been challenged in court by USR S4 and AUR Sector 4, who argue that the municipality is taxing citizens for a service they do not benefit from. Along with the suspension of the tax, the mayor also announced a 200 lei fuel aid, which will be granted for 6 months, starting from May 1. This measure targets approximately 115,000 registered vehicles in Sector 4.
