On Tuesday morning, in Suceava County, 17 searches were carried out as part of an investigation into the forgery of identity documents for individuals from Russia, Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, and other states from the former USSR.

Prosecutors from the Prosecutor's Office next to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, together with officers from IGPR - DIC, have acted against public officials who issued identity documents with fictitious addresses. The investigation targets the illegal acquisition of Romanian identity cards, through the falsification of citizenship certificates and declarations of residence, without the consent of the property owners. So far, 18 beneficiaries have been placed under criminal investigation for obtaining identity documents based on falsified documents.
