Searches in Bucharest and in Teleorman, in a case of fictitious rents

The Capital Police carried out searches on Thursday in Bucharest and Teleorman County, targeting two suspects of fraud who were offering apartments for rent at prices below market level.

Between October 2025 and February 2026, they contacted victims through messaging applications, requesting payment for one month of rent and one month of deposit. After receiving the money, the victims received fictitious contracts and were asked to provide data for opening virtual wallets and cryptocurrency accounts. The total damage was estimated at approximately 6,900 euros and 15,400 lei. One of the suspects was detained for 24 hours, and investigations continue under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Sector 5 Court.
