Warning strike announced by SANITAS for August 20

On August 20, between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM, there will be a warning strike, and on August 28, a general strike will be initiated in the healthcare sector, in response to the salary cuts imposed by the interim Government.

This government was dismissed on May 5, and Romania is being led by a government with limited powers, which cannot propose new laws or emergency ordinances. SANITAS reports the negative effects of Emergency Ordinances no. 7/2026 and no. 36/2025, which have affected the incomes and rights of healthcare personnel. The union demands the restoration of salary rights provided in the Collective Labor Agreement, the cancellation of bonus and leave reductions, as well as the resumption of dialogue for a fair salary law.

Representatives of SANITAS emphasize that this decision is the result of the lack of response from the Government and warn of the negative consequences for the healthcare system and the nearly 100,000 members of the Federation.
