Ryanair has announced that it will not install the Starlink satellite internet service, owned by Elon Musk, on its aircraft. The decision was motivated by an estimated 2% increase in fuel consumption due to the weight and aerodynamic drag of the antenna. CEO Michael O'Leary emphasized that Ryanair's business model, focused on low costs and quick turnaround, does not justify the investment in Wi-Fi, especially considering the short average duration of flights. This statement comes after Lufthansa announced an agreement for the installation of Starlink, and SAS opted for the same provider last year, citing lower aerodynamic drag compared to other solutions.
