Romsilva, the National Forest Administration, is taking drastic measures to cover the significant losses recorded by the 143 cabins and guesthouses it owns. According to journalists from Profit.ro, the administration is preparing to promote the tourist units on platforms such as Booking, Airbnb, and Expedia, as part of a pilot project targeting the counties of Ialomița, Prahova, Bistrița Năsăud, Neamț, Harghita, Iași, Vâlcea, Bihor, and Caraș Severin.
The project includes conducting a market study to assess the economic potential and customer requirements. Additionally, Romsilva will sign contracts with agencies and tour operators to offer vacation packages and will launch smart promotions, such as early booking and last minute deals. Each cabin will have a unified identity under the brand "Romsilva Cabins."
In 2024, Romsilva reported a turnover of 2.98 billion lei, but its tourist units recorded losses of over 5.7 million lei last year. The administration has been reluctant to provide clear data on the exact number of cabins and the revenues generated.
