The National Company Romarm risks losing its competitiveness and even disappearing if it does not undergo a profound structural reform and change its business model, warns the general director, Răzvan Pîrcălăbescu.
He states that an internal analysis has highlighted issues such as the cumbersome decision-making process, the lack of effective coordination between the central structure and the subsidiaries, and the limited role of the central management.
Pîrcălăbescu claims that numerous industrial assets have been abandoned, investments have been insufficient, and in recent decades the defense industry has been affected by degradation and devaluation.
He also accuses the politicization of the company and says that, although proposals for reorganization have been submitted to the Government and the Ministry of Economy, they have not been implemented.
The director states that Romarm does not oppose checks by the authorities and believes that modernizing the company is essential for the development of the national defense industry and strengthening cooperation with NATO allies.
